Wow, this hit home - and the timing is very interesting. I was sitting with my coffee this morning “wishing” I had more money to throw at a marketing campaign - feeling that this will hold me up.
Nope.
Going to “do the best you can with what you’ve got right now.”
Thanks Brian.

Brian:
This definitely hit home for me too. From time to time I find myself wishing I had this or that but your article reminded me of the time when I quit a six figure Wall Street career and started all over again. I remember one time I barely had enough for groceries but I managed to make do with what I had. From time to time I find myself in that position and all I have to do is remember that it didn’t take much to survive.
You really hit it on the nose with this simple but powerful essay!

[…] Like Brian Kim says, it’s all about doing the best you can with what you’ve got. And then giving yourself a pat on the back and answering Lyman’s question, ”Are You Doing the Best You Can Do?” […]

Chris,
I’m so glad the article hit home for you and that the timing was right as well. I’m sure you’ll find the solution you’re looking for.
Stephen,
Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us. It’s so great to see that you managed so well despite the situation you were faced with.
And you are right when you say that it doesn’t take much to survive. It’s a great feeling when you strip down to the basic necessities of life and realize the power of the simple life.
